Investigating the effect of renewable and non-renewable energy consumption on social welfare in developing Asian countries: Quantile regression approach
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
Energy as one of the factors of production along with labor and capital has an important role in development and social welfare. Due to the pollution of non-renewable resources and its negative impact on welfare, the use of renewable resources can improve social welfare by eliminating pollutants. In this study, the effect of renewable and non-renewable energy consumption on social welfare of developing Asian countries in the period 2007-2018 has been investigated using the quantile panel approach. Findings show that the consumption of renewable and non-renewable energy increases welfare and has a positive and significant effect on welfare, although the impact factor of renewable energy consumption is much larger than the impact factor of non-renewable energy consumption. So that the impact factor of renewable energy consumption in the initial deciles is higher than the final deciles. Also, the effect of other variables such as environmental performance index, employment rate, gross capital formation on welfare is positive and significant and the effect of CO2 pollution on welfare is negative and significant.

Renewable energy based off-grid rural electrification programs are one of the most effective ways to increase access to energy in remote areas of developing countries. While a large number of such programs have been implemented, the rate of success, to ensure a long-term sustainable program, is low. Many of these programs have failed to appropriately address the social and cultural issues of ta...
متن کاملThe effect of globalization on energy consumption in developing country: Accurate quantitative regression
The present study investigates the effect of globalization on energy consumption in developing countries including Iran for the period 2000 to 2018 in the form of a quantile panel regression approach. For this purpose, the KOF index was used as a globalization variable. The index, KOF, includes real trade flows such as trade, foreign direct investment and portfolio investment, as well as trade ...

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the short-run and long-run causality between renewable energy (RE) consumption and economic growth (EG) in nine OECD countries from the period between 1982 and 2011. To examine the linkage, this paper uses the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) bounds testing approach of cointegration test and vector error-correction models to test the causal relat...
متن کاملInvestigating Renewable Energy Potentials in Jordan
Jordan is a developing country with an increasing electric demand and very limited fuel resources. As a result, the majority of Jordan's electric generation is fueled by imported fossil fuels, which greatly stresses the country's economy. While Jordan is incredibly resource poor when it comes to fossil fuels, it does have a vast untapped solar energy potential. Jordan's promising renewable ener...
